Equine Therapy and Rodeo

Fort Worth Connect recently received a grant from the North Texas Community Foundation in partnership with TCU School of Medicine and Freedom Reigns Counseling to provide therapeutic services. The target audience for this grant is youth between the ages of 10 – 17 years old who are interested in horses and willing to participate in a 5-week program. Students will be given assessments that will be evaluated through the TCU School of Medicine in Fort Worth, TX. The results of these assessments will be used to help all participants build resilience by working with horses.

Upon completion of the 5 sessions, interested youth will have an opportunity to join the Everything 4-H Rodeo Club. The Rodeo Club is a new initiative for Fort Worth Connect and will be conducted in partnership with officers of the Fort Worth Police Department. This program aims to build positive relationships between our youth, volunteers, and law enforcement through a therapeutic process while learning a new skill.  Youth who participate in 4-H also qualify for scholarships and have the ability to participate in various activities with other 4-H clubs throughout the area. Our hope is for this program to inspire our youth to explore all opportunities that interest them within 4-H.
